KSDK News Story On Boy Scouts of America Teaching Winter Survival Skills
Reporter Alex Fees from KSDK, Newschannel 5, was assigned a story on how to survive in the outdoors if you are confronted with an abrupt change in the weather. A father and two sons died of exposure on Sunday after they didn’t return from a hike on Saturday afternoon in Reynolds County.
Approximately six Wilderness Survival Merit Badge Counselors were contacted on Monday morning, Jan. 14, 2013, to provide expert advice on this subject. Fees needed to complete the story for the 4 and 5 p.m. news, so we met at Beaumont Scout Reservation at 1 p.m. to do this story. He mentioned that he contacted at least two other groups for sources for this story, but no one could accommodate him on the short notice.
