There’s one conference in the St. Louis region providing outstanding training on critical skills used by nonprofit leaders, communicators and fundraisers.
The Community Service Public Relations Council’s (@csprcstl) annual Spectrum Conference is 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel. The cost is $145 for the general public, $125 for members of CSPRC and $99 for full-time students. The fee includes all conference materials, breakfast and lunch. There will be 16 breakout sessions in four areas—communications/marketing, development/fundraising, leadership and “New To…” for those entering the nonprofit field.
Steve Knight, director of COCAbiz, will deliver the morning keynote on the necessity of organizations to foster a creative and innovative workplace culture. COCA, the Center of Creative Arts, is one of the nation’s largest community arts nonprofit organizations.
COCAbiz is a business training initiative and offers programs for individuals and corporate teams that challenge and teach skills to unlock creative energy.
Chris Reimer (@ChrisReimer), a well-known new media strategist in the region, will deliver the afternoon keynote. His book, Happywork: A Business Parable About The Journey To Teamwork, Profit, and Purpose, was published earlier this year.
Some of the most successful and dedicated communications and development professionals in the region will be presenting, including Maryanne Dersche from 501 Creative, Allison Collinger from AHC Consulting, LLC, Angie Winschel from Almanac and many others. These professionals bring decades of experience in their fields and generously share their knowledge and insights with the nonprofit sector in our region. My presentation, “Get Your E-Newsletter Fit, Fascinating and Fashionable,” will be from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. and part of the “New To…” section. However, the presentation will have something for professionals of all experience levels. During a recent CSPRC luncheon, many professionals shared some of their frustrations with donors or clients unsubscribing from their e-newsletters along with other challenges. A diagnosis and solutions were offered in two blog posts on the subject: 3 Steps To Understanding Why Someone Unsubscribes From Your E-Newsletter and 6 Ways To Get Your E-Newsletter Fit, Fascinating and Fashionable.
