The Community Service Public Relations Council tries something a little different for its December luncheon. This year, CSPRC is going to look at how Panera Bread (known here as St. Louis Bread Company) launched a bold business experiment in early 2010. Don Hutcheson, area director in St. Louis for Panera, discusses how the for-profit made the decision to open a nonprofit St. Louis Bread Company store in downtown Clayton, where diners pay what they feel they can afford. It’s an opportunity to take a closer look at social entrepreneurship, discover what companies and nonprofits can learn from each other, and hear how this innovative new business model is working.
